Went up the hill at dusk yesterday to let the chickens roam free for a teeny bit, and finish cleaning their coop out. It had just stopped raining for the first time in a few hours, and the clouds were still hanging so gray and low that if blotted out the entire view of the mountain south of the property. It was too early in the evening for the night chorus of frogs, crickets and katydids. It was absolutely dead quiet. No dogs barking, cows mooing, ATVs rumbling, nothing. I felt like the place was enveloped in a sound proof bubble. It was amazing.
